A/N: Song suggested by [personal profile] crankyoldman and I soundly agree.

Boy, you got my heartbeat running away,
Beating like a drum and it’s coming your way...

“Well, I’d rather have you home for supper, but I understand.” Tifa smiled at the phone. At least Cloud was actually calling instead of just disappearing. She automatically grabbed Reno another beer on her way to pull Rude’s pizza from the oven. The two men actually stopped going over their files long enough to look up and thank her.

Denzel ran in, slinging his bag down in a booth. The bartender smiled at the young man who had once been a boy. “Baked you cookies.” He swerved from his path upstairs to turn back and hug her.

“THANK YOU!”

She had gone from a princess looking for a rescue to queen of her world here at the new 7th Heaven. And it was always full of dutiful knights who loved her for her warmth and strength. What more could a girl ask for?

Can’t you hear that boom, badoom boom,
Boom, badoom, boom bass?

Only Elfe could open a door like that. Tifa looked up to see the exterrorist, now accompanied by Shelke and Shera. She hadn’t seen either of them in ages. “Hey, how are you? What’s going on?”

“Needed a place to plan this trip with a little privacy.”

“Privacy?” Cloud was still on the line, but...

“Yeah, there’s this thing...”

“I have to go--make sure you eat: I packed you a lunch! Take care!” She slipped the phone in her pocket. “Do you need my help?”

“Well...”

Marlene came careening around the corner from where she had been hiding. “Elfe! Are you going to save the planet?!”

Tifa stared down the girl first, then the ShinRa veep. “Marlene, could you have Den come down and watch the counter for a minute?” Her face grew quiet, smile staying put but eyes becoming serious. “There’s a table back here--I want you to tell me everything. Now.”

Boom, badoom boom, boom badoom boom,
Yeah, that’s that superbass
.

A couple rounds and well-loaded plates of food later, Elfe leaned back in her chair in the bar’s kitchen. “So that’s that.”

Tifa drew herself up with a sigh, her posture displaying a graceful determination that made it clear how she had worked her way up from a barmaid. “I’m going with you.”

“... You really don’t need to. I mean, you have the kids and the bar and--”

“Cloud can handle it... I think. Or I can close. That might be better. No offense but... well, even with Shelke’s weapons training, you don’t have a lot of... muscle on your team--besides you, Elfe, of course.” She chewed on her lip, hoping she wasn’t offending anyone. “And I really want to go. It’s important.”

Elfe smiled. “Make sure you bring that left hook and you’re in.”
